LOCATION & VISITATION
Queen of Heaven Cemetery, under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is located in a wooded valley adjacent to Briones Regional Park. It is centrally located in Contra Costa County west of Interstate 680. It is most easily located from Interstate 680 South by taking the Gregory Lane exit or from Interstate 24 by taking the Pleasant Hill Road North exit to Reliez Valley Road.
The cemetery gates are open for visitation every day of the year from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Mausoleum buildings are open from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM daily.

HISTORY & FACILITIES
Queen of Heaven Cemetery was dedicated in 1963 by the Diocese of Oakland’s first bishop, Most Reverend Floyd Begin. It is the newest of the diocesan cemeteries, established to meet the needs of Catholics and their families in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. Once a Haviside family walnut orchard, the property still preserves the original family home, barns and some small cottages; these continue to be used today.
Queen of Heaven Cemetery is a 198-acre property; to date just 11 acres have been developed into 14 sections for ground burial. There are numerous developed grave spaces in current inventory.
The first mausoleum was completed in 1982 and is under the patronage of the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This facility was designed by Aaron Green, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright and has a capacity for 1000 entombments, and 792 inurnment spaces for cremated remains.
A second mausoleum named Mausoleum of the Angels was blessed and dedicated on November 2, 2003. Plans are underway for a third mausoleum and construction is scheduled to begin in 2008.
Over the course of the cemetery’s 44 years of service, more than 12,200 committal services have taken place. Queen of Heaven Cemetery currently supports the burial needs of 16 parishes of the central Contra Costa County area.
Cemetery Family Service Counselors are available six days a week for both preneed and at-need arrangements.
